What this game actually is
Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos is a remaster of the 1999 3D platformer, rebuilt by Titanium Studios and published by Argonaut Games on 29 October 2026. The night before Croc's next adventure, the inventor Gobbo watches the Dantinis resurrect Baron Dante, gets caught, and is dragged away. Croc, back on the beach at Gobbo Valley, finds a bottle in the sand with a message from his birth parents, and sets off for the mainland to find them.
The mainland is split into four villages, each belonging to a different Gobbo culture: the coastal Sailor Village, the wintry Cossack Village, the prehistoric Caveman Village and the mountaintop Inca Village. You rescue captured Gobbos, run missions for the locals, fight a Guardian at the end of each region, and spend crystals at Swap Meet Pete's General Store, where a cat sells gadgets and teleports you between villages with a crystal ball.
This site follows the 29 October 2026 launch build on Steam. Everything below comes from Argonaut's store page and news posts, or from the Steam achievement list, which is the only public source that spells out how the bosses, items and collectibles are used.
Before you set off
- Play Sailor Village first: it teaches the jump, the tail spin and the triple jump in order, and holds the two earliest Guardians.
- Bank crystals instead of spending them. The loyalty card wants 999, and its achievement sits at a 17.1% completion rate.
- Learn the triple jump early. The third jump is what makes the late Cossack and Inca gaps reachable without a vehicle.
- Do not skip the vehicles. Cars, speedboats, minecarts, the hang glider and the airplane each switch the control scheme, and the boat race has its own achievement.
- Read the achievement table before a second run. Three of them ask for a boss or tower finished without a single mistake.
The four villages at a glance
| Village | Gobbo culture | Known for |
|---|---|---|
| Sailor Village | Coastal docks and boats | Soveena the Squid, Cannon Boat Keith, the boat race, Pete's shop |
| Cossack Village | Snow and ice | Flavio the Thermal Fish, Lava Lamp Larry, the snowman |
| Caveman Village | Prehistoric jungle and lava | Venus Fly Von-Trappe, the Village Masher, ginger soda |
| Inca Village | Mountaintop ruins | Baron Dante's mountain, the final fight, the tower climb |
The villages are named in Argonaut's own description of the game; the boss pairings come from the achievement requirements, which name the village in each one.
Straight answers
Remake or remaster? A remaster: the 1999 level design and story stay, the presentation, controls and camera are rebuilt.
How long is it? The store page advertises over 40 levels plus vehicle stages and Guardian fights. That is the official figure; no completion-time estimate is published.
Multiplayer? None. Steam lists single-player only and every achievement is a solo task.
What is the Croc2pedia? A digital museum inside the remaster: design documentation, marketing assets, merchandise, animation tests, 3D model galleries of cut content, and interviews with the original team.
